Kari Heusinkveld has been named the new head coach of the IMS girls basketball program. Heusinkveld served as a varsity assistant last season and replaces Aaron Gingerich, who stepped down after four years guiding the program. Coach Heusinkveld previously served as an assistant at Goshen (IN) College for one season. She is a graduate of Hesston (KS) College and Goshen (IN) College.

Coach Heusinkveld was named the team’s Most Valuable Player as a senior at Goshen College. Prior to that, while at Hesston, she was selected to the NJCAA DII Region VII First Team. Heusinkveld was recently inducted  into the Elkhart County (IN) Sports Hall of Fame, in recognition of her stellar career as a three-sport athlete at Bethany Christian High School in Goshen.
Athletic Director Dwight Gingerich said “we are excited about Kari’s decision to lead the program. Her passion for basketball is obvious and she has developed a good rapport with the girls. We are grateful for the great job Aaron did and believe Kari will build on that success.”
Coach Heusinkveld will direct a basketball camp at IMS June 8-11.
