Friday evening, Sept. 6 found students together doing various activities with their Sibling Families. Each year, the YCO (student youth council) groups a senior guy (dad) and senior girl (mom) with underclass students (siblings) to give students a chance to interact with others besides their usual friend groups. YCO then designates school day activities and evenings throughout the year for Sibling Family events. So far this year the families have eaten lunch together a couple of times, and planned two separate evenings together.
Last Friday found families gathering at the Kalona park to play kickball, eating together at area restaurants, and basically finding fun activities to do together.
Sibling Family groups is one way IMS is “more than a school!”
