Thank you to all students, teachers, and community members who donated blood on Tuesday, August 27th on a very hot day in the IMS gymnasium for the Compassion-sponsored Blood Drive collected by the Mississippi Regional Blood Center.  The drive began at 6:30 a.m. to allow more people to arrive before work. However the Blood Center and nurses called it to end at 10:00 am instead of 11:00 am as planned due to the heat. Plans have already been made to have next August’s blood drive in the air conditioned lobby near the auditorium.  It could not be changed this year because a different location had to go through a supervisor for approval.

Because of the earlier end to the drive ten people were not able to donate blood which brought down the total count. However, 27 units were collected which will have the ability to impact the lives of up to 108 patients.  Three people were first time donors.
Nine seniors donated blood: Jameson Lammer, Tanner Messer, Liza Brenneman, Elaine Ropp, Lauren Swantz, Alaina Beatty, Lane Schrock, Molly Heusinkveld, and Dallas Ney.
