Baseball wins big against Pekin

IMS jumped on top with three runs in the second inning, getting a sac fly from Brent Brenneman and a RBI single by Reggie Hostetler. Lane Schrock hit a grand slam home run in the third inning to break the game open as IMS added five runs in the third, to make the score 8-0. IMS got one more run in the fifth inning to finish the scoring making the final score 9-0.

Cameron Gingerich got the win on the mound, pitching all seven innings while striking out nine Panther hitters. Schrock finished the night going 2 for 3 with a double, a home run, 4 RBIs, and 2 runs scored.

“We played well in every phase of the game tonight. The guys had a great approach at the plate, Cameron threw the ball well on the mound, and we were very solid defensively,” said Coach Danny Hershberger.

IMS moves to 2-1 on the season and will play at Columbus Monday night.
