Eight students attended the Iowa State FFA Leadership Conference in Ames, Iowa, April 21-23, 2013. The students attended workshops and sessions which presented information about the increasing need for people in agriculture and the importance of getting involved locally and globally.
They were again able to work a shift for the Meals from the Heartland organization. This organization packages meals for the hungry and then donates them around the world and locally. Instructor Karen Van de Walle said, “We had a wonderful time during this service opportunity and look forward to continuing it in the future.”
While at the conference four students from IMS, Bridgette Brenneman, McKayla Brush, Kaycee Miller, and Rosina Ropp, competed in the Team Ag Sales competition. They worked in three areas: 1) a knowledge test, 2) a team event 3) individual sales event. These students were mock selling a HEPA respirator made by 3M. The students received a gold rating, Overall they placed 15th among the other 58 teams from all state wide school districts. The top team will advance to Nationals in the fall and these ladies have set their goal to be headed there soon in their future!
