IMS went on the road Thursday night to play class 3A third ranked Mediapolis and fell 61-24. IMS hung tough early on and trailed after one quarter 5-11.  In the second period Mediapolis outscored IMS 21-4 to take a 32-9 lead into halftime.  IMS played even throughout the third period, but was not able to cut into the Mediapolis lead which stood at 42-18 entering the final period.  An 11-2 run from Mediapolis to open up the fourth shut the door on any hopes of an IMS comeback.

IMS was led by Kristin Davis with ten points, which included two threes.  Olivia Yutzy had seven points, Riley Schmieder had four, McKayla Brush had two, and Anya Slahbaugh completed the scoring with a point.

Coach Aaron Gingerich commented, “I was proud of the girls’ effort.  I thought we played very hard and made Mediapolis work for what they got.  Our defensive effort was as good as it has been all year.”

With the loss IMS falls to 3-9 on the season, and next plays Friday night at Louisa Muscatine.
