IMS returned to Hillcrest Union Tuesday to take on Pekin, and jumped out to an 18-5 lead after one period on it’s way to a 69-48 win over the Panthers. The IMS defense was stout early on, as the Panthers struggled to get off good shots in the first quarter. Pekin cut into the margin in the second quarter, closing the gap to eight at 31-23 at the half.  IMS outscored the Panthers 19-9 in the third period to lead 50-32 after three quarters.  Generally when these two teams play there are runs on both sides and no lead is safe.  This time IMS was able to outscore Pekin 12-4 to make it 62-36 with four minutes remaining.

IMS was led by Cameron Gingerich with 21 points while Justin Boller poured in 14 points, including four treys. Peyton Thompson and Reggie Hostetler also reached double figures with 12 points each. Dallas Nye recorded 13 rebounds, five assists, and five blocks to go with six points. Eli Gingerich and Zach Hill each scored two points to round out the scoring.  Cameron Gingerich added four steals and four assists, Thompson had four assists, and Hostetler picked up five rebounds and four steals.

IMS goes to 13-2 on the season and next plays Winfield-Mt Union at home Friday followed by a road game at Iowa City Regina Saturday.
