This week’s Chapel Theme was: The Ten Commandments
Monday: After a short, humorous video clip about Moses receiving the Ten Commandments (you can view it here), students and faculty participated in Ten Commandments Trivia led by Cameron Gingerich and Hannah Gingerich. After a rousing competition that taught us we still have lots to learn about the topic, the faculty beat the freshman in a very tight race!
Tuesday: No Chapel, In-Service
Wednesday: Ten Commandment Skits, performed by individual chapel rows. Students and teachers used their drama skills to portray the Ten Commandments in a memorable and sometimes humorous way.
Thursday: Jay Miiller, pastor of East Union Mennonite Church, shared about the Ten Commandments and asked students to think about the Ten Commandments as more than simply a list of “do’s and dont’s” but rather as a set of guidelines God has given us to keep us safe and to help us have a relationship with Him. Jay introduced the idea of the “11 Words” that challenges us to remember that He “is the Lord our God, who brought us out of Egypt and the land of slavery” before each commandment in order to realize that the purpose of His commands is to help us know Him and love Him more.
Friday: Hymn Sing led by Darvin Yoder, Lee Ebersole, and Josh Tyson. Chapel was closed with a prayer time led by Dwight Gingerich as well as announcing that Cody Miller will be running at the State Cross Country Meet tomorrow in Fort Dodge. In true IMS fashion, Cody ran through a human tunnel formed by his teachers and classmates on his way out of chapel!
