This week’s chapel theme was “Walking in the Word”…
Monday: Reggie Hochstedler and Dallas Nye led a skit with Lane Schrock, illustrating what it’s like when we walk in darkness as compared to having a guide and the importance of making God’s Word the guide for our lives. Josh Tyson shared about Enoch from Genesis 5, who “walked with God for 300 years and then God took him away” as the first Biblical reference to a human having relationship with God.
Tuesday: Small Groups
Wednesday: In cooperation with Live Healthy Iowa’s Fall Fitness Day and their campaign to make Iowa the healthiest state in the nation, we participated in Walk-a-Mile where students could fellowship with one another, share about their weeks, AND get in some exercise in the process. It was a beautiful day to be outside!
Thursday: IMS Music groups shared a “sneak peak” of their upcoming performance (this Sunday afternoon in Celebration Hall at 3:00 pm).
Friday: IMS graduate Ethan Gingerich (’08) shared about his experiences of LIVING the Word through Engineering. Ethan shared his story of how scriptures (and a current events assignment!) influenced his plans after high school and has led him to attend the College of Engineering at the University of Iowa and to work with an organization called Bridges to Prosperity. Ethan shared his group’s work in Nicaragua and challenged students to consider the ways that they can live out the Word in the work they do in the future.
