IMS defeated Wapello in three games Tuesday night 25-8, 25-21, 26-24.
Once again IMS’ team serving was an effective part of the offensive drive. Casey Perez started off with 11 straight points, five of which were aces. Keilah Brokaw took over with five more serves with two aces and we controlled game one. Coach Cindy Miller said, “Wapello was not going to give up that easily so I was thrilled the team was fired up and ready to play tonight. Even though Wapello kept creeping back into the games, I was impressed with the team’s composure and confidence on the court. We worked together and kept serving tough until that final point.”
Outside hitters Olivia Yutzy and Laura Hochstetler led the team in kills. “It’s great to know when one of them rotates to the back, the other will be in the front row attacking again,” commented Miller. Hannah Miller continues to prove she can place the ball in open court as well as hit aggressively. Laura Hochstetler, Casey Perez, Kristin Davis, Naomi Miller and Olivia Yutzy were busy defensively picking up spikes, dumps and tips in nonconventional areas of the court. This was just a great overall win for us.
IMS’ overall record is now 14-11 and conference record 5-2.
