A little rain didn’t prevent the 34th Annual Iowa Mennonite FFA Tractor Driving Contest from taking place today at the Lower Deer Creek parking lot across from the school. The Tractor Driving Contest is designed for students to demonstrate their abilities to operate tractors safely. It included a written exam, a troubleshooting section, obstacle course and backing a trailer into a barn. Senior Cameron Gingerich took first followed by junior Brent Brenneman in second and sophomore Michael Hershberger in third. The contest also included a garden tractor competition of which junior Reggie Hostetler won.
The Iowa Mennonite FFA would like to thank our judges, Derek Bontrager, Chase Gingerich, Lee Miller, and Brian Yoder for taking time out of their day to help with the contest. Thanks to individuals and businesses for providing equipment, labor or money: Maynard Gingerich, Randy Yoder, BT Farms, Inc. (Brent & Tara Yoder), Farmers Supply Sales Inc., Kalona Veterinary Clinic, Morning Sun Farm Implement, Progressive Grower Solutions (Terry Erb), Twin County Dairy (John & Joanne Roetlin), Y & H Trucking (Gaylord & Shirley Yoder) and Wellman Farm Center.
