Today during chapel we heard how The Word is used to guide ministry and mission to God’s people.  Rick Fulton joined us to share about a mission trip he and his family went on in Guatemala.  This trip opened up a whole new world to them and introduced them to two ministries they have become involved in: On His Path and Bethel Ministries International.  

On His Path is a private, non-profit foundation located in Wayland, Iowa.  It was founded in 2009 by John and Jean Mitchell to manufacture and distribute braces to treat children born with club feet in developing countries.  The guiding scripture for their organization is Hebrews 12:13, “Make level paths for your feet, so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed.”  This quite literally applies to the work that they do.  The work of On His Path intersected with Bethel Ministries International in Guatemala.

Bethel Ministries International is an organization in Guatemala that does food & clothing distribution, home building, wheelchair distribution and supports an orphanage for severely handicapped children with wheelchair equipment and repairs.  Their guiding scripture is James 1:27, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” 

On His Path has committed to step up and help BMI fill the gap for a shortfall they are experiencing right now.  They are in need of more wheelchairs to ship to Guatemala.  They would like to gather donations of 200 wheelchairs in order to have a full shipment.  Rick is working to help them meet that goal.  They will accept wheelchairs in any condition.  They also need crutches, walkers and canes.  They can make arrangements to pick up the equipment, if needed.  If you or anyone you know has equipment to donate, please contact Rick Fulton at 319-461-6260 or Brittany Davidson at 319-256-5656.  Over 1300 wheelchairs were distributed to disabled people all over Guatemala last year.  Please help them continue this important ministry.  Links to On His Path & Bethel Ministries International.
