IMS met Highland Thursday night for the final SEISC game of the season and came up short, falling 27-41 to the Huskies. The game started off slow as both teams struggled to find a groove offensively. IMS was not able to crack Highland’s zone and with two minutes remaining in the first half had scored just five points. A strong defensive effort kept IMS close and the score was 7-14 at the half. IMS started the second half on a 6-2 run, making it a 13-16 game with four minutes remaining in the period. Highland answered by ending the quarter on a 9-0 run, giving them a 25-13 lead going into the final period. IMS was able to stay within ten for most of the quarter, but could not get any closer.
IMS was led by Olivia Yutzy with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Coach Aaron Gingerich said, “We were not able to execute offensively against Highland’s zone. Their full court pressure bothered us and forced us into some unnecessary turnovers. We will continue to work on our offensive execution as we prepare for tournament week.”
