IMS got off to a slow start against Louisa Muscatine Tuesday night but was able to get it going in the second half to squeak out a 34-30 win on the road.  The game started off slow as both teams struggled to score points and after two minutes gone by in the second period IMS trailed 1-7.  As the quarter went on the pace picked up and IMS went into halftime down one, 11-12.  IMS came out of halftime a different team and gained momentum by pressing and creating turnovers.  A thirteen point third quarter gave IMS a 24-23 lead going into the final period.  A big Hannah Miller fourth quarter three made it a 32-25 game with five minutes to play and gave IMS a little room to breathe.  IMS was able to hold on down the stretch to win 34-30.

Coach Aaron Gingerich said “I was happy with the way we got it going in the second half.  We were more aggressive driving the ball to the basket and it opened up opportunities for us.  I thought the girls played with much better effort and focus as the game went on.”

IMS was led by Olivia Yutzy with twelve points and seven rebounds. Freshmen Riley Schmieder and Hannah Miller each scored seven points. Kristin Davis had four points, Laura Yoder had two and Celia Hostetler had two to round out the scoring.

IMS moves to 3-12 on the season and next plays Thursday at home against West Burlington.
