IMS won an exciting game against Cedar Valley Christian Saturday night at IMS.  IMS got it rolling early by pressing and creating turnovers which turned into some easy baskets.  IMS’ defense continued to bother Cedar Valley throughout the second quarter and IMS led 26-10 with three minutes to go in the period.  When it looked like IMS might break it wide open Cedar Valley was able to make an 8-2 run to go into halftime down just ten, 28-18.  Things got interesting in the third quarter as IMS saw their lead dwindle to three at 34-31 with a minute to go in the period. IMS showed composure in the fourth period and answered every Cedar Valley run with a big basket.  An eighteen point fourth quarter was enough to propel IMS to a 54-43 win.

Coach Aaron Gingerich said “The girls really showed a lot of poise tonight.  When things could have turned for the worst someone stepped up and made a big play.”

IMS was led by Kristin Davis who played a great floor game scoring fifteen points to go with six steals, six assists and just one turnover. Olivia Yutzy had fourteen points, six rebounds and no turnovers.  Riley Schmieder had eleven points and six rebounds.  Casey Perez recorded six steals in a strong defensive effort.  Laura Hochstetler had six points, Casey Perez had four, and Celia Hostetler rounded out the scoring with two.

IMS moves to 2-10 on the season and next plays at home Tuesday against Winfield Mt. Union.
