IMS traveled to Wayland Friday and behind some sticky defense by IMS combined with a tough shooting night for the Warriors came away with a 52-14 win. IMS scored first on a Peyton Thompson trey and led 12-5 after one period. IMS extended the margin to 26-12 at the half. IMS then outscored Waco 15-2 in the third period to take a 41-14 lead into the final frame.
Boys show solid defense in win over Waco
IMS was led offensively on the evening by Thompson with 15 points, while Cameron Gingerich and Brian Hagedorn netted eight points each. Chance Miller and Randy Ropp added six points apiece, Reggie Hostetler had five points, and Dallas Nye added a triple. Joel Shetler completed the scoring with a free throw.
Gingerich had a team high seven rebounds, Hagedorn had five, Miller had four, and Ropp and Nye each had three. Gingerich had four assists and Miller had three. Miller and Nye each picked up three steals.
Coach Dwight Gingerich said “this was a game where a lot of things just went our way. Our defense was very solid, probably the best all season, and our people off the bench came in and played really well. Our concentration was very good throughout the game, we moved the ball well, and were able to really challenge their shots for the most part. We were also much better on the boards and were able to sustain our intensity through the game.”
Waco was 6-37 from the floor for the game for 16 percent, while IMS was 22-53 for 41 percent.
IMS goes to 7-2 after a full round of conference play, 7-3 overall.
