The IMS girls lost at Highland Tuesday night 40-50.

Kristin Davis

Both teams pressed when given an opportunity making for an exciting up tempo game.  Highland started the game off with a 13-4 run and IMS was never able to cut the lead below seven the rest of the way.  A 19 point first quarter gave Highland a ten point lead after one.  IMS turned up the defense in the second period and went into halftime down eight 21-29.  Highland kept IMS at bay during the second half, fighting them off every time they threatened their lead with a timely basket or steal.  IMS was able to keep the game at a nine or ten point margin for most of the second half, but could get no closer.

Coach Aaron Gingerich said “We did many good things tonight.  Highland made us play a little faster than we are comfortable with at this point and we got a little careless with the basketball.  There are a lot of things we are working towards tightening up as we see these teams a second time in the conference.”

IMS was led by Kristin Davis with 12 points, including four threes.  Laura Hochstetler had nine points, including two threes.  Freshman Celia Hostetler gave IMS a big lift off the bench scoring eight points, making all four shot attempts from the field.

IMS falls to 1-9 on the season and next plays Friday on the road at Waco.
