IMS made class 2A 8th ranked Mediapolis work Tuesday night, but wasn’t able to execute down the stretch to keep the score within striking distance. Mediapolis started the game on fire and jumped out to an early 18-4 lead. IMS played fairly even from that point on, and went into halftime behind 16-36. IMS made things interesting in the second half, cutting the lead to 13 at 36-49 with just over four minutes to play, but Mediapolis ended the game on a 10-2 run to erase the hopes of an IMS comeback.
Coach Aaron Gingerich said, “I was happy with the way we competed against a great team for the majority of the game tonight. We continue to see progress being made toward becoming the kind of team we want to be at the end of the season.”
IMS was led by freshman Riley Schmieder who finished with ten points and four rebounds. Sophomore Olivia Yutzy scored eight points and had three steals. Amber Davis had seven points to go with six rebounds. Laura Hochstetler scored six points and had five steals. Kristin Davis had three points and five assists. Hannah Miller and Celia Hostetler rounded out the scoring with two points apiece. IMS goes into Christmas break with a 1-8 record and will start the second half of the season against Highland on January 3rd.
