IMS lost a hard fought game to Columbus Friday night 32-38. IMS started out slow and found themselves behind 6-10 after one quarter. IMS’ struggles offensively continued and Columbus’ lead grew to twelve at the break. In the third period both teams tightened it up defensively, making it hard for either team to score points. During the period IMS outscored Columbus 10-6, making the score 22-30 entering the final quarter. Led by senior Amber Davis IMS was able to make a push and cut the lead to three at 29-32 with four minutes to play. Soon after, Olivia Yutzy picked up her fifth foul and IMS struggled to score down the stretch. Columbus was able to knock down enough free throws to escape with a 38-32 win.

IMS was led by Olivia Yutzy who finished with 10 points to go with seven rebounds and Amber Davis who scored nine points to go with six rebounds.

Coach Aaron Gingerich said “I liked the effort we played with in the second half tonight. We are still working on putting together a complete game of basketball. I feel like the girls are beginning to understand the type of intensity needed to play our best.”

IMS falls to 1-7 on the season and next plays Tuesday against undefeated Mediapolis.
