Renee Buckwalter broke 18 minutes for the first time on a four kilometer course at the Mid-Prairie meet held at the Wellman golf course. Renee ran a very evenly paced race which allowed her to go way under the 18 minute mark finishing in 17:26 for seventh place. Maddie Miller finished the race in 20:02 for eighteenth place, also running a very evenly paced race. Maddie was coming off an injury so it was great to have a pain-free race. Michaela Gingerich also had even splits which allowed her to run a personal record time of 22:29 over four kilometers. Jamilya Masylbekova ran a gutsy race starting with the leaders and hanging on to finish in 23:03. It wasn’t her fastest time, but it may have been her most exciting race yet this year. Sofia Chmaruk was the individual titlist finishing in 16:18 after holding off a strong challenge from Lindsay Brunson of Muscatine.
