Kirby Shetler

Freshman Kirby Shetler led the way for the Iowa Mennonite men Tuesday night at Knoll Ridge golf course in North English.  Shetler started the race in a very controlled fashion finding his racing pace early in the contest.  This placed him around thirtieth place early on in the race.  He held his pace throughout the race passing a score of other runners in the next two and a half miles and finished in eleventh place with a time of 19:26.  Jesse Shetler was the second IMS finisher placing sixteenth in 20:06.  Rex Yoder and Kobi Russom also represented IMS by finishing in fifty-fifth and fifty-seventh places.  Kobi’s time of 28:12 is a new personal record.

Freshman Renee Buckwalter ran a strong race on a difficult course in North

Renee Buckwalter

English Tuesday night.  Her efforts earned her tenth place with a time of 18:10.  Jamilya Masylbekova also put forth a great effort to finish forty-fifth in 22:24.  Michaela Gingerich finished in fifty-third place with a time of 23:54.  Camila Segar placed third in the junior varsity race finishing in 20:58.

“The weather was great but the course is one of the most challenging that we see all season.  This course can humiliate even the best runners.  I thought our athletes performed well tonight considering this,” commented Coach Marty Gingerich.
