Junior Cody Miller led the IMS boys cross country team to a seventh place finish at the IMS Early Bird meet Tuesday.  The highly competitive meet featured three 4A schools.  Muscatine, Iowa City City High and Cedar Rapids Jefferson took the first three team places.  Miller ran forty seconds faster than his time on the course last year placing twenty-fifth with a time of 19:05.  Jesse Shetler and Kirby Shetler were the next two finishers for the team in thirty-fourth and thirty-fifth places respectively.  Nicholas Yoder and Nathan Peters rounded out the team scoring with forty-fifth and forty-eighth places.  Kobi Russom finished his first cross country race in 28:17.  “I thought our team members all ran well tonight.  It was the first high school cross country race for three of our six runners.  Kirby Shetler ran very well for a freshman in his first high school race.”   Bennett Moser of Wapello won the individual title in 16:46.  Seventy-six runners finished the boys varsity race.

Maddie Miller

Freshman Renee Buckwalter ran a good race in her debut wearing an IMS jersey.  She was the only runner from either squad to medal (top 20) by placing eighteenth in a time of 18:24.  Senior Madeline Miller also ran well placing thirty-ninth in 20:26.  Allison Siglin of City High won the race in 16:28.  Seventy-one runners finished the girls varsity race.

Camila Segar

Michaela Gingerich & Jamilya Masylbekova

Junior transfer Camila Segar ran a very strong  junior varsity race in her first high school competition.  Her time of 20:23 was good for seventeenth place.  Freshman Michaela Gingerich and junior exchange student Jamilya Masylbekova both also ran well finishing in 22:44 and 23:15 respectively for forty-fourth and forty-seventh places.   Seventy-seven runners finished the girls junior varsity race.
