IMS 12 Louisa Muscatine 0
The IMS softball team picked up their fourth win of the season on Tuesday night against Louisa Muscatine with a 12-0 game in four innings. IMS came out ready to play both on the defensive and offensive ends. After walking the first batter of the game Laura Hocstetler settled in and struck out seven batters on the night and only gave up two hits. The IMS defense also came through making some great plays behind her, twice getting out of an inning with double plays. On offense IMS got the bats going early and often. Mo Brenneman started the game off with a bunt and then stole both second and third and scored on a passed ball to give IMS a 1-0 lead. In the second inning IMS plated two more runs with the second run coming on a great base running move by Olivia Yutzy to avoid the tag. In the top of the third L&M led off with a base hit but after the next two batters struck out the runner got caught in a run down and IMS completed the play by tagging her for the third out. IMS added three more runs in the bottom half of the third and then scored six runs in the bottom of the fourth to reach the run rule limit. .
“This was a good win for us. I thought our mental approach to the game was great tonight. We took care of what we had control over and let the rest fall into place. We have worked on taking the same mental approach to every game and we are starting to do that,” said Head Coach Chris Nachtigall.
