IMS 3 3 Danville 10 14
The IMS softball team traveled to Danville on Friday night for a varsity doubleheader. The first game saw IMS jump out to a two nothing lead only to have the Danville bats come alive in the third inning scoring nine runs on five hits and three IMS errors. IMS was able to create a number of offensive opportunities themselves twice loading the bases but they were never able to capitalize on those opportunities.
In the second game IMS put pressure on the Danville D right away with Olivia Yutzy reaching third with two outs but again IMS was not able to bring the run across. The Danville bats picked up right where they left off scoring three runs in the first. IMS responded by scoring a run of their own in the top of the second but Danville came right back scoring three more in the second and seven in the bottom of the third to give them the win 14-3.
“Danville has a very solid team. I thought we battled in the first game and if we could have cut down on a few mistakes it would have been a different game. These games give us a chance to learn, both for the players and for us coaches. I thought we figured some things out in these games that will help us down the road. It was good to see some of our younger players step up and contribute tonight.” Head Coach Chris Nachtigall. IMS was lead on night by Mo Brenneman 2-4 with 2 runs scored; Olivia Yutzy 2-3 with 2 runs scored; Amber Davis 2-4 with 1 RBI; Megan Haifley 2-3 1 RBI; Naomi Miller 2-4 1RBI. IMS is 3-5 and play Monday night at Columbus Junction.
