IMS 7  Tri-County 11

Mo Brenneman

Laura Hochstetler

Gretchen Geyer

The IMS softball team took another loss on Thursday night in Thornburg.  IMS struck first, scoring when Mo Brenneman led the first inning off with a walk, promptly stealing second and third bases and then making it home on a missed throw to third.  After making quick work of Tri-County in the bottom of the inning IMS was able to put some more pressure on Tri-County in the second inning only to be denied.  Tri-county then responded by scoring three runs in the second, five in the fourth and adding three late to make it 11-4.  IMS had their chances in both the fifth and the seventh.  In the fifth IMS had the bases loaded and nobody out but were not able to get the hit needed to plate the runs. In the seventh IMS was again able to put some pressure on Tri-County, scoring three runs and bringing the tying run to the plate but that is as far as the come back went.

“We have struggled to make defensive and offensive plays the last couple of games.  Tonight we had 13 hits and scored seven runs but when you give up only five hits but give them 11 runs it makes it very tough to win ball games.  I think we learned a lot about what we need to do differently through tonight’s game.  We have said all year that we want to learn from every game so that we can get better and I think we definitely did that tonight.  I am looking forward to seeing how this team can come back from two disappointing losses,”  commented Head Coach Chris Nachtigall.
IMS was led by Mo Brenneman 1-4, two runs and three stolen bases, Gretchen Geyer 2-4, one run, two stolen bases and two RBI’s, Laura Hochstelter 3-4, one RBI, Naomi Miller 3-4, one RBI, one stolen base, Meredith Schrock 1-4, two runs, one RBI.
IMS is 1-2 and will play WACO Friday night at home.
